Tony Ndiema, born Anton Okoth Ochieng on 12th December 1989, was a celebrated Kenyan Ohangla musician, vocalist, songwriter, and founder of the Batoto Ba Rhumba (BBR) Band. Hailing from Gemasumbi, Rangwe Constituency, Homa Bay County, and raised in Nairobi’s Kariobangi Estate, he rose to prominence by blending traditional Luo Ohangla rhythms with modern Rhumba influences, creating a distinctive sound that resonated with audiences across Kenya and the Luo diaspora. His breakthrough came with his 2014 debut album Ajema Mtoto wa Asembo, which featured popular songs such as Rembo, Okinyio Madhe, and Okal Kwach. Throughout his career, Tony remained committed to preserving and modernizing Ohangla music, earning the admiration of fans and fellow artists alike. He passed away on 30th June 2026, leaving behind a rich musical legacy that will continue to inspire generations.
