The Superstar VDJ JONES finally drops volume two of the Kenyan Throwback Mixes on all media platforms after a year-long gap
The Kenyan throwback mixes usually feature most of the major hit songs from back in time. Volume one of this series featured the golden music from the early ‘2000s.
Kenyan music has since evolved from the early times of the legendary E-sir Mmari to the present times. The music is timeless and has played a major role in shaping the current music.
Issah Mmari Wangui, better known by his stage name E-Sir, was a Kenyan hip hop artist. He was the elder brother to fellow Kenyan rapper Habib. He was famous for his deft lyrical ability and command of the Swahili language.
In the past years, the genge type of music dominated the scene with lots of hit tracks that really did well. Juacali is one of the surviving artists in the industry with almost 20 years plus experience in the scene.
Paul Julius Nunda, better known by his stage name Jua Cali, is a Kenyan hip hop artist. In 2000, together with record producer Clemo, he founded Calif Records where he has been ever since. Jua Cali performs in Swahili and Sheng in a popular Keew3snyan style of rapping called genge.
He is one of the pioneers of the genre of music which had major support from Clemmo aka Clement Rapudo of the then Calif Records.
This mix features music from as early as 2010 to 2018. A new wave of artists came to rule the game then left. These are some of the major hit songs from that period. I hope u enjoy the mix and remember to share the link with family and friends.
